Peter Standish - Director
Co-founder SP Solutions. PhD, BE (MinEng) Honours, GradDipMgt Member AUSIMM, IEAust(CPEng) U/G Mine Manager Certificate Over 25 years experience in coal and metalliferous mining (surface and underground). NSW Department of Mineral Resources Inspector and mine manager. The last 8 years has been managing all activities for SP Solutions.
Facilitator for over 120 complex technical and high level risk analyses in a wide range of industries such as coal, metal, gas, extractive/quarries, equipment manufacturing and construction). He has designed and assisted in the implementation of risk management systems at all levels including Major Hazard / Catastrophic Risk Programs.
Peter has also been the lead investigator for 18 fatal and over 60 significant incidents. Technical specialist for the team including Quantitative Risk Analysis, HAZOP, Safety Case and other specific risk analysis tools.
Recent projects have included assignments in all states of Australia, Indonesia and New Zealand.

Peter Reardon - Director
Co-founder SP Solutions. BE (MinEng) Honours, Graduate Diploma Management, Member AUSIMM and SME, U/G Mine Manager Certificate. Approx. 20 years experience in all aspects of mechanised underground metalliferous mining including Mine Manager for large mining group and 8 years managing/leading all activities of SP Solutions. Developed and successfully implemented practical risk management systems at all levels of operations in the heavy industry sector (including coal, metal, gas, extractive/quarries, equipment manufacturing and construction).
Facilitator for over 90 complex, high level risk assessments for large organisations, and multiple risk assessments for general task or project specific topics. Developed and implemented various safety management plans for organisations to meet/exceed statutory requirements including Major Hazard / Catastrophic Risk Programs.
Lead investigator for 4 fatal incidents, over 30 other significant incidents and approximately 450 general incident analyses.
Recent projects have included assignments in all states of Australia, Papua New Guinea and Indonesia.

Over 8 years experience in first aid/safety systems at operational sites, personnel training system development and implementation including nationally recognised training programs.Renee specialises in the development and implementation of training management systems, including writing procedures, linking risk assessments and JSA's to procedures, cross mapping to all applicable National Training Competency Standards, Skills Needs Analysis and customised programs. Renee also has skills and completed projects on developing and implementing Document Management Systems and Records Management.

Bob Symes - Principal Consultant
B.E. (MinEng), member AUSIMM, Underground Mine Manager's Certificate, over 20 years experience in underground and open cut metalliferous mining in facets of operations, development, production, maintenance and technical / engineering.
Several years as Technical Services Manager for large mining group supervising all design, planning, scheduling, financial analysis, surveying, geotechnical, geology and risk assessment covering several mining methods.
Recent projects have included facilitation of risk assessments on mobile equipment to meet regulator guidelines, Safety Management Plan development/implementation for coal mines, Investigation training and assistance for sites to prepare for and manage external audits.
Bob specialises in integrating all technical aspects of mining into risk management systems. More recent projects have included:
* Corporate HSE Management system audit for a global mining company throughout operations in Australia and New Zealand
* Facilitation of risk assessments - mine/project wide, emergency response and specific technical issues such as ground control, stope design and scheduling etc; and
* Development and implementation of HSE standards and procedures for coal preparation plants.

John Bartholomew - Senior Consultant
Bachelor of Applied Science majoring in Occupational Health and Environment. This degree is a combination of occupational and environment disciplines.

Monica has a Certificate 3 in Office Admin , Certificate 3 in Financial Services (Accounts Clerical), Return To Work Coordinator certificate. She ensures all consultants maintain their administration data on the SPS Intranet for accurate invoicing and Job Management.

Aaron Smith - Consultant
Bachelor of Environmental Science/Management, Certificate IV in Workplace Safety (including Cert IV Trainer and Assessor), Return To Work Coordinator with over 8 years experience in OHS & Environmental Management & Systems. Deanne Toy - Senior Consultant
Masters of Risk Management, Graduate Diploma in OH&S and a Health Safety and Environmental auditor. Deanne has over 8 years experience in the health care industry and in the last 6 years has expanded her risk management and OH&S skills into various organisations and industries including major hazard plants and metalliferous and coal mining (surface and underground). This work has included developing an OH& S and Risk Management system for one of the largest major hazard ammonia plants in the world from their construction phase through to their current operations, compliance auditing in NSW coal mines, assisting mines to identify, analysis and develop major hazard management plans, conduct high level risk assessments, Failure Modes Effect Analysis (FMEA), HAZOP’s, design and operational risk assessments on various pieces of plant and equipment, including draglines, drill rigs and continuous miners for OEM’s and end users. Deanne’s recent projects have taken her to Papua New Guinea and also involved assisting mining companies in managing their risks during new projects including exploration.

Nigel Webster - Principal Consultant
Nigel has been facilitating high level risk assessments for a range of topics including project level risk assessments, HAZOP’s, FMEA’s and semi quantitative analysis within Australia and abroad (PNG). Nigel is heavily focussed on providing a sound systems approach that will provide practical and achievable solutions to operational issues. Nigel is a corporate level trainer and as such is able to provide highly effective delivery of tailored or industry generic packages.
Prior to joining SP Solutions, Nigel worked in the mining industry for 13 years and has held a variety of roles in geology, planning / scheduling and supervision. He has held supervisory roles in high level feasibility studies for bringing new orebodies into operational mines. This work has included all aspects of financial analysis, preliminary mine design, reserve and resource calculations and management plan development. He has managed exploration projects, teams of geologists and specialist consultants in the field of mining/geology/geotech and drilling contractors. Throughout his career he has conducted risk assessments, Job Safety Analyses, developed safe operating procedures and safety management plans.
Recent projects that Nigel has led have included:
* Development and presentation of Nationally Recognised/Accredited training programs in risk assessment, incident investigation and Hazard Awareness/JHA;
* Facilitation of critical process risk assessments for major capital programs
* Development of videos for training and procedures
* Facilitation of risk assessments for new coal and metal mines (eg) draglines

Clive Grace - Senior Consultant
Clive has over 25 years experience within the, metalliferous mining (underground and open cut) and chemical industries with qualifications in Business and Adult Education. He has had extensive experience in the facilitation of organizational, team development and business improvement initiatives. This includes leadership development (frontline supervisors and teams utilizing experiential learning), training management systems (development, implementation and review/audit), developing standard operating procedures, work instructions, process mapping and business system integration. Clive is a motivating facilitator and is accredited to deliver workshops in DiSC Dimensions of Behaviour and Team Management System’s (TMS). Clive is based in Perth, WA, Australia

Kylie Ptaszinski - TA - Administration
Kylie manages the office administration for SPS. Her key tasks include reception, records management, travel/accommodation and logistics for client jobs, accounts payable, petty cash, preparation of training material and reports for clients and team days.
Kylie supports all consultants working for/with SP Solutions to ensure they deliver high quality and timely advice/support.
Kylie has over 10 years experience in office administration and management. She has the following skills and experience:
* Microsoft suite of products including spreadsheets and databases;
* Accounting practices (accounts receivables, accounts payable, bookkeeping etc) and computing systems such as MYOB;
* Supervision of office personnel;
* Accredited Return To Work Coordinator and experience in managing Workers Compensation cases;
* a range of courses including OHS Consultation, OHS Induction for Construction Work and First Aid.
Kylie has managed the Safety Management Plan for a Council including review of practices to regulations. She enjoys being organised and has a keen interest in internet and computing systems.

Trent Butler - TA - Consulting
Trent has over 10 years experience in advertising, marketing and other industry sectors such as marine and equipment manufacturers (emergency response vehicles). He is an accomplished public speaker and has excellent writing skills for development and review of reports. Trent's area of expertise is int he field of assisting on risk assessments, development and implementation of integrated management systems, due diligence studies/research and formulation of "on-line" solutions utilsing the P2B software suite of applications (eg) risk registers, action tracking, document creation and control, process mapping etc. Trent is based in Brisbane, QLD.

William Pryce - Consultant
William has a degree in OHS and has had several years experience as an OHS/Hazardous Materials consultant. He has worked for large OHS/Hazardous Materials consultancies on major environmental risk management programs. This has included asbestos audits, hazardous materials surveys/audits, conducting risk assessments and safety management system audits, public liability exposure analysis, air quality measurement, site contamination inspections and analysis, coordination of asbestos removal programs and testing/sign off on asbestos contaminated site clearances. He has also worked in the industrial arena as a storeman/safety officer for (1) a large automotive battery manufacturer/retailer and assisted on workplace design and led toolbox talks in the workplace; and (2) a rail and ship engineering group conducting repairs and responsible for site safety procedures and risk assessments. He has a Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment and has attended short courses in Dangerous Goods and OHS work in the Construction Industry. William is based in Newcastle, NSW.

John Woollams - TS - Equipment Risk Management
John is a Mechanical Engineer with over 30 years experience in engineering for a wide range of applications and industries. Starting his career as an automotive and machinist, John worked for the likes of the Department of Civil Aviation, the BMW Race Team, PBR (mobile equipment braking systems) and Geophysical Services (maintaining trucks, drill rigs, generators and ancillary equipment throughout the Northern Territory, Greece and Saudi Arabia). He then worked as an R&D engineer for Joy Manufacturing responsible for a wide range of equipment designs and improvements on miners, bolters, shearers and automated drill rigs (underground coal). Afterwards he worked as the Manager of Standens (Rutherford) which was a general fabrication and engineering shop that manufactured earth moving equipment attachments as well as general mining and conveyor repair and maintenance work. With the considerable experience obtained throughout his career, he then designed a new revolutionary braking system for conveyors and managed his own business for 13 years. Since then he has been conducting contract engineering and project management work throughout the metalliferous and coal mining industries working on backfill systems, batch plants, pumping systems, conveyor systems and underground infrastructure development for new mines. Computer skills include use of engineering design packages such as Microstation v8 and Inventorv10, and basic PLC programming.
John brings strong engineering experience to the team and assists clients on managing risks associated with the design, operation and maintenance of plant and equipment. He is based in Newcastle, NSW, Australia.
